Ketoprofen, (as a topical gel) has been shown to be effective treating arthritis or specific pain conditions. It helps relieve pain and reduces inflammation within hours. By applying it topically, it allows patients to treat only the localized area. The advantage of using Ketoprofen, compared to an oral medication, is a high concentration at only the desired site, not the entire body. The side effects are less than taking an oral medication since it is reported less than 3% of the drug is absorbed by the body. Little or no upset stomach will occur as the medication is absorbed through the skin directly into the capillary bed, by-passing the liver. Ketoprofen may cause sun sensitivity, therefore avoid sunlight. There are LITTTLE TO NO ALLERGIC REACTIONS OR SKIN IRRITATIONS. Ketoprofen is only available by a prescription from your doctor.
